Sudan Premier League side, Al Hilal SC will face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns this evening in a Group A match of the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

The match will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg and not Sundown’s Loftus Stadium that is yet to be cleared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Joao Mota, the Al Hilal head coach has made it clear that they have prepared well ahead of this match. “I am confident that my team can get a good result and make a good start in the opening match of the Group stage,” said the Portuguese coach.

He made it clear that the training camp in South Africa and the build-up matches have helped them prepare well. Al Hilal played two friendly matches against South Africa DStv Premiership side Cape Town City where they settled for a draw and lost the second match few days ago.

Al Hilal will hope that their new signing from Cape Town City Abdul Ajagun makes a good start for the team.

CECAFA’s second team in the Group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Al Merreikh (Sudan) will be in action on February 19th against Mamelodi Sundowns.
