CECAFA Women’s Champions League Qualifiers: Lady Doves to open against Djibouti’s FAD FC

Uganda’s Lady Doves FC will face FAD FC (Djibouti) in the opening Group A match of the CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifier on August 28th at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

In the mini draw conducted on Friday morning by the CECAFA Executive Director, Auka Gecheo, the Djibouti team has been placed in Group A to join Lady Doves, PVP FC (Burundi) and Simba Queens (Tanzania).

Kenya’s Vihiga Queens FC were drawn in Group B where they join Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan) and New Generations (Zanzibar).

The second match to be played on August 28th will see PVP FC face Simba Queens FC. The South Sudan Women’s Premier League champions Yei Joint Stars will be in action on August 29th against New Generations FC, while Commercial Bank of Ethiopia face Vihiga Queens the same day.

The group matches will end on September 3rd, before the semi-finals are played on September 6th and final three days later.

“We are very hopeful that this will be a very competitive tournament as we get the best team to represent the zone in the inaugural TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League final to take place in Egypt,” said Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Director.

The winner from the CECAFA qualifiers will join the other seven to battle in the 2021 TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League to held in Egypt.

Group A: Lady Dove FC (Uganda), PVP FC (Burundi), Simba Queens (Tanzania), FAD FC (Djibouti)

Group B: Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (Ethiopia), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), Vihiga Queens (Kenya)
