CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup: 25,000 fans allowed to watch every match
The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) and the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) have announced that fans will be allowed in the Stadium to watch the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup.
The regional tournament kicks off today with hosts Ethiopia facing Eritrea in a Group B tie at the Bahir Dar Stadium.
“We have agreed with the hosts that with all protocols put in place only 25,000 fans will be allowed to watch every game,” Auka Gecheo, said the CECAFA Executive Director.
He made it clear that the hosts have promised to deploy lots of security to ensure that the fans follow the protocols as we are in a period of COVID-19.
Esayas Jira, President of the Ethiopia Football Federation and CECAFA Vice President said they have agreed that a small percentage of fans is allowed to come and cheer the teams.
The regional tournament which has attracted nine teams will climax on July 30th.
