CECAFA SENIOR WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP: Aturo to captain Uganda Crested Cranes

Goalkeeper Ruth Aturo has been selected to captain Uganda Crested Cranes during the 2019 Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup. The regional tournament will take place in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam November 14-23rd.

Uganda’s head coach Faridah Bulega has named a squad of 35 players that will start preparations this weekend ahead of the tournament. “Our target is to win the trophy and we shall work hard towards that,” said Bulega.

The technical team that has been beefed up by Ayub Khalifan however did not invite Uganda’s professional players for the regional event.

Uganda Crested Cranes will start their campaign with a game against Djibouti on November 15th before facing Ethiopia two days later. They will battle Kenya in the last group B match on November 19th.

The tournament that will attract eight teams will have all matches played at the Chamanzi Stadium. Rwanda, Somalia, Eritrea and Sudan are the only member countries that have not registered teams for the event.
