Cecafa Kagame Cup defending champions Vital’O eliminated from the tournament after a 1-1 draw against El Merreikh

Vital O opened the scoring in the match in the 34th minute through Laudit Mavugo after rushing through the centre to catch the El Merreikh defence napping and sending in a thunderbolt.

El Merreikh then found its footing in the match during the second half with Mohammed Troare netting to snatch a point and cement their second place ont the Group C standings.

Gilbert Yaounde Kanyankore, head coach of Vital’O blamed his side’s exit on fate and praised El Merreikh as being a good side that deserved to qualify to the next round.

“I accept defeat and promise that we will be back stronger next year. I have new young boys this year and they will have more experience by this time next year.”

Kenyan officials oversaw the match with Anthony Ongwayo as the Centre referee and Andrew Juma as the fourth official.
