CECAFA KAGAME CUP 2019: APR FC storm quarter final stage

Rwanda giants APR FC are the first team to qualify for the quarter final stage at the on-going CECAFA Kagame Club Championship.

The home side stopped Zambia’s Green Eagles FC 1-0 on Monday at the Kigali Stadium to make it two straight wins. Borface Sunzu’s own goal after 59 minutes separated the two teams.

APR FC kick started the tournament with a hard fought 1-0 win over debut making Proline FC from Uganda. They will next face Somalia’s Heegan FC on July 11th in the last Group C match.

In the other games played on Monday AS Ports (Djibouti) defeated KMKM FC (Zanzibar) 2-0 with Gabriel Dadzie scoring a brace. Kenya Premeir League champions Gor Mahia FC struggled to beat DR Congo’s AS Maniema Union 2-1. Wellington Ocheing and Boniface Omondi netted for the Kenyan side, while Dennis Likwera scored a late goal for the guest side.

Proline FC condemned Heegan FC to their second defeat in the tournament with a 2-0 win. Joshua Okiror Ocen and Mustafa Mujuzi scored the goals.

In an early game played on Tuesday Bandari FC (Kenya) and Rwanda’s Mukura FC settled for a 2-all draw. The other matches on card will see KCCA FC (Uganda) face defending champions Azam FC, while KMC FC (Tanzania) take on DR Congo’s TP Mazembe. South Sudan’s Atlabara Fc will battle Rayon Sports FC in the last match of the day.
