CECAFA KAGAME CUP 2019: APR FC humble Heegan, Proline FC out

Three-time champions APR FC humbled Somalia’s Heegan FC 4-0 to extend their unbeaten run in the on-going 2019 CECAFA Kagame Club Championship.

The Group C game game played at the Stade de Kigali on Thursday saw the home side dominate the match to score three in the first half before adding the fourth seven minutes to full time.

Danny Usengimana netted the quickest brace in the tournament (1st and 3rd minutes), while Claude Niyomugabo and Yves Mugunga added the other two goals.

Earlier in the afternoon, Zambian guest side Green Eagles FC sent 2019 Uganda Cup winners Proline FC packing as they registered their second victory of the tournament.

Proline FC needed at least victory in the game against Green Eagles FC to guarantee their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.

However, Shafik Bisaso’s side were condemned to a 2-1 loss at Stade Kigali. Kennedy Musonda scored a first half brace, while Hakim Kiwanuka pulled one back for Proline FC in the 51st minute.

Proline FC had earlier suffered a 1-0 loss to APR in their opening game before they won 2-0 against Somali side Heegan FC.

With the result, APR FC who have nine points and Green Eagles FC with six points advanced to the quarterfinals from Group C, while Proline FC with three points and Heegan FC-pointless bowed out.

APR FC and Green Eagles FC will wait to know their quarter final round opponents after Group B action on Friday.
