The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed that the regional U-20 Women’s Championship will take place in Uganda later this month.

Auka Gecheo, the CECAFA Executive Director told Cecafaonline that the tournament will take place October 28th to November 10th.

“The Football federation in Uganda has confirmed that they are ready to host the event during those dates and we are now waiting for further confirmation from teams,” added Gecheo.

He made it clear that apart from Somalia and Sudan, he expects all the other Member Associations to send their teams.

The tournament will also help teams like Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania to prepare better ahead of the third round of the FIFA World Cup U-20 Women’s qualifiers.

CECAFA has so far staged three tournaments in the 2021 season. Ethiopia hosted the CECAFA U-23 Men’s Championship in the town of Bahir Dar, before the CECAFA Kagame Club Championship took place in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

Last month the zonal qualifiers for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League took place in Kenya. Djibouti will host the CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge Cup between December 3-17th.
