Head coach of AS Kigali, Eric Nshimiyimana has said they are determined to qualify for the next round of the 2020/2021 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Rwanda Premier League side AS Kigali arrived in Uganda yesterday ahead of the return leg tie against KCCA FC slated for January 6th at the St. Marys’ Stadium, Kitende.

AS Kigali hold a 2-0 advantage after the first leg was not played last month in Kigali after KCCA FC failed to present 11 starting players and 4 substitutes as provided in the Confederation of African Football Confederations Cup regulations. KCCA FC had some players who tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) before the team left Kampala and more tested positive again in Kigali.

“We have prepared well and we know how we are going to approach this game. We respect KCCA FC, but we have what it takes to make it to the net round,” said Nsimiyimana, a former Rwandan international.

AS Kigali ejected Botswana’s Orapa United FC in the first round of the preliminary round, while KCCA FC was among the teams that got a bye into the second preliminary round.

The winner between AS Kigali and KCCA FC will qualify for the play-off with one of the teams that falls out from the CAF Champions League second round preliminary round.
