Kenyas Harambee Stars lost to  Guinea Bissau  1-0 in Nairobi, Kenya in a match that  unrest broke out when a goal was awarded to Guinea Bissau after 81 minutes, with Kenya’s players contesting that ball hadn’t crossed the line.

 This leaves Guinea Bissau topping in their qualifying group one point ahead of both Zambia and Congo. Kenya are bottom, six points off the top with little chance of qualifying for 2017 AFCON  tournament.

Uganda Cranes  missed several opportunities as their home African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Burkina Faso ended in a barren draw.

The result means Burkina Faso are on  top of Group D with two games to go courtesy of head-to-head records

Uganda, now must win their last two games to stand a possible chance to feature in the AFCON tournament.

Ethiopia drew against Algeria 3-3 in a Group J dramatic 6-goal thriller draw in Addis Ababa with Faouzi Ghoulam securing a point by converting a stoppage penalty.

Congo and Zambia drew 1-1 in Group E encounter in Brazzaville with Jordan Massengo on target for Congo ahead  just after half-time, and Zambia’s Winston Kalengo salvaging a point in the 72nd minute.

Ghana drew Mozambique o-0 in Group H

The result leaves Ghana on 10 points, four ahead of Mauritius in Group H.

Stephane Sessegnon who plys trade in West Bromwich Albion scored twice for Benin  they thundered South Sudan 4-1 to top Group C

 

Traditional whipping boys, Djibouti were beaten 5-0 in Monrovia by Liberia who now move two points clear of favourites Tunisia and Togo in Group A

Togo drew Tunisia 0-0 not withstanding Emmanuel Adebayor’s return from self-imposed exile.

All teams topping group are guaranteed featuring in 2017 AFCON tournament to be held in Gabon, with the best two runners-up getting slots too.
