Ethiopia’s U-20 national team fought from two goals down to beat Sudan 3-2 in the Zonal Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) U-20 qualifier Group C match against Sudan this evening.

Sudan who were playing their first match took a 2-0 first half lead with Abdelkarim Yousif scoring a brace.

But the Ethiopian team returned strongly with Beyene Bayse dictating the pace and registering two goals to his name too. Biruk Balcha netted the other goal for the Ethiopian team at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.

“I am happy that I scored two goals to help my team win the match,” said Bayse after the game. Ethiopia who lost their opening match 3-0 to Kenya have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the semi-finals depending on what happens in the remain group matches.

The top teams in the three groups will automatically qualify for the semi-finals, while the best second placed team will also take the fourth slot.
