Zanzibar’s Warrior Queens pull out of CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifier

Eight teams will tussle it out in the CAF Women’s Champions League – CECAFA qualifier 2024 which kicks-off on Saturday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager communicated on Friday that the Zanzibar representatives Warrior Queens had pulled out.

“It is unfortunate that Warrior Queens pulled out on Thursday night because of financial challenges. We shall now remain with eight teams participating and the fixture will not change,” said Mossi.

Mossi explained that the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) General Secretary, Hussein Ahmada Vual had communicated in writing Warrior Queens decision to pull out.

Group A now leaves Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), Kenya Police Bullets (Kenya), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan) and Rayon Sports WFC (Rwanda). Simba Queens (Tanzania), PVP Buyenzi (Burundi), Kawempe Muslim Ladies (Uganda) and FAD Djibouti are the teams in Group B.
