A 44th minute goal by Bernard Morrison was enough to give Young Africans FC a 1-0 victory against arch-rivals Simba SC in a Tanzania Vodacom Premier League match played on Sunday in Dar es Salaam. The match watched by a big crowd was also graced by President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad.

Tanzania President John Magufuli and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and CECAFA President Wallace Karia also attended the match.

The Ghanaian forward netted the lone goal from a free-kick just outside the box. Simba’s goalkeeper Aishi Manula failed to stop the well taken free kick.

Although the table leaders Simba SC were dominant, Young Africans defended well to keep the likes of Meddie Kagere, Clatous Chama, John Bocco and Francis Kahata at bay.

“I am happy to score an important goal against our rivals Simba,” said the goal scorer Bernard Morrison.

The win for Yanga against their arch-rivals did not change the table standings as Simba remain clear leaders with 68 points, Azam FC are second on the log with 51 points, while Young Africans have 50 points.
