Young Africans SC pick vital point away to Real Bamako in Mali
Tanzania Premier League reigning champions Young Africans SC picked a vital point away to Real Bamako in a 2022/2023 Group D TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup match played in Mali on Sunday.
After a goalless first half Fiston Mayele sent the local fans at the Stade 26 Mars Stadium silent when he gave Young Africans SC the lead.
The Tanzanian giants continued to push forward in search of more goals, as the hosts also changed strategy to push more on the break.
At the stroke of full time Patient Wassou leveled matters with a well taken header off a corner kick. Cedric Kaze, the Young Africans assistant coach said although it was a very difficult match, he thanks the players for picking a point away from home.
“Every team always wants to win at home. Coming here and playing well to pick a point is work well done as we go back to prepare for the return leg against the same team,” added Kaze.
Young Africans SC, the only team in the CECAFA Zone playing in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage are now second in Group D with 4 points, while Tunisia’s Monastir lead with 7 points. TP Mazembe who lost to Monastir last weekend are third on the log with 3 points, and Real Bamako have only 2 points.
