South Sudan Women’s League giants Yei Joint Stars have reinforced their team ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers.

The club on Tuesday announced the signing of Ugandan International Lilian Mutuuzo. The forward is expected to beef-up the team’s attacking department as they make their fourth attempt in the Zonal qualifiers.

Mutuuzo joins Yei Joint Stars from 2022/2024 Uganda Women’s League champions Kampala Queens WFC.

The CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers will take place August 17-31st in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

During the draw conducted last week at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Yei Joint Stars were placed in Group A alongside Commercial Bank of Ethiopia WFC, Kenya Police Bullets, Warriors Queens (Zanzibar) WFC and Rayon Sports Women from Rwanda.

Group B will have Tanzania’s Simba Queens WFC, PVP Buyenzi (Burundi), Kawempe Muslim Ladies (Uganda) and FAD Djibouti.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager says the best two teams in each group will automatically qualify for the semi-final stage, while the winner will represent the Zone in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
