CAF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS
We can beat Uganda’s Lady Doves to storm semis – Coach Niyonkuru
The final group games at the CECAFA zonal TotalEnegries CAF Women’s Champions League take place today to decide the three teams that join Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in the semi finals.
Jumaine Niyonkuru, the PVP FC (Burundi) coach whose team face Group A table leaders Lady Doves (Uganda) at the Nyayo Stadium says they must go all out and win.
“We have what it takes to beat the Ugandan team. We have no choice but to go and play like it’s a final because all we need is a win to qualify. The players know what we expect from them and they will go for it,” added Niyonkuru.
But Lady Doves coach Fred Musiime has also made it clear that they will not underrate the Burundi team. “This is a very important match for us because it will determine if we go to the next stage or not,” added Musiime.
Simba Queens FC from Tanzania who also have 4 points like Lady Doves will take on bottom placed FAD FC from Djibouti. Both Lady Doves and Simba Queens simply need draws to progress.
In the Group B matches Commercial Bank of Ethiopia who have already qualified for the knock out stage after two wins will face Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), while Zanzibar’s New Generations take on home side Vihiga Queens FC.
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia led by the high scoring duo of Geinore Loza and Medina Busser have vowed to get better in every match they play. “We are hungry to win this title and qualify for the finals in Egypt,” team captain Loza told Cecafaonline.
The semi finals of the regional qualifier will be played on September 6th, while the final takes place on September 9th at the Nyayo Stadium.
