CHAN 2022
We must prepare well for CHAN in Algeria – Micho
The Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has said his team must prepare well in the remaining days ahead of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022.
Sredojevic named a 35-man provisional squad on Tuesday before entering camp on December 21st in Kampala.
Speaking during a Press conference at the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) headquarters in Mengo, the Uganda Cranes coach made it clear that they will start intensive preparations in Uganda before traveling to Tunisia and continue with training.
“We have maintained the core of the team that played the Qualifier matches against Tanzania. We have had the first round of the league running and this helps to put the players in good shape,” he started.
He also made it clear that they might have three or four friendly matches while in Tunisia. Uganda Cranes who have never made it out of the group stage of the CHAN tournament are placed in Group B alongside DR Congo, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.
The tournament strictly for players featuring in their respective domestic Leagues will take place from January 13th to 4 February 2023 in Algeria. Ethiopia and Sudan are the other teams from the CECAFA region that will feature in the CHAN 2022 tournament.
