Vipers SC stop hosts Rayon Sport in friendly match
Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC registered their second pre-season win away from home on Monday in Kigali, Rwanda.
Fresh from stopping Tanzania’s Young Africans SC 2-0 in Dar es Salaam a week ago, coach Roberto ‘Robertinho’ Oliveira’s team registered another 1-0 win against Rayon Sport FC at the Nyamirambo Stadium.
Midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga netted the lone goal after only 4 minutes with a hard shot from outside the box that the Rayon Sport goalkeeper failed to scored a beauty as Vipers edged Rwanda’s Rayon Sports in a friendly match at Nyamirambo stadium in Kigali.
The hosts tried to fight back and level matters, but failed to beat the well coordinated Vipers SC defending line. The Ugandan team were unlucky when Frank Zaga Tumwesigye was stretchered off injured later in the match.
“I am proud of my players who have continued to work hard as we prepare for the new season and the CAF Champions League,” said Vipers SC coach Oliveira.
Vipers SC have been pitted against Central Africa Republic’s Olympic Real de Bangui in the preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
