The head coach of Ugandan Premier League giants Vipers SC has said the win away in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Saturday is a big morale booster for his team ahead of the new season.

Vipers SC stopped the Tanzania Premier League champions Young Africans SC 2-0 in an international friendly played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Milton Karisa and Bright Anukani netted the goals for the Uganda Premier League champions.

“This win means a lot to my team interms of confidence and morale building as we prepare for the new season. We are very impressed with the way our players approached the match against a big Tanzanian team,” Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo told Cecafaonline at the Airport this morning before the Vipers SC team flew back to Uganda.

The coach said the international friendly had come at a right time before they start the TotalEnergies Africa Champions League. “This has been a worthwhile friendly match because we have benefited a lot from it,” added the Vipers SC coach.

The International friendly which also served as the main event to cap off Young Africans’ “Wiki Ya Mwananchi” week of celebration was also graced by celebrated top African coach Pitso Mosimane who recently stepped down as coach of Egyptian side Al Ahly.

Action will continue in Tanzania tomorrow with yet another international friendly when Simba SC host Ethiopia Premier League champions St. George.
