The head coach of Vihiga Queens FC has said playing at the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League has been a good experience for the team.

Charles Okere, said although the team exited the inaugural competition at the group stage, the players will never be the same again after playing at this level.

“This has been a good platform for the players to learn and improve when playing with the best in the continent,” added Okere.

Vihiga Queens FC qualified for the inaugural tournament after lifting the zonal CECAFA Women’s Champions League trophy.

The Kenyan side kick started the campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa) in a Group B match, before they revived their hopes with a 2-0 win against ASFAR FC (Morocco). The team however suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat yo Nigeria’s Rivers Angels last Friday.

Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies FC will now face ASFAR in one of the semi final matches, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies take on Malabo Kings (Equatorial Guinea) on Monday.
