URA FC, Azam draw against Egyptian sides
Uganda Revenue Authority FC and Tanzania’s Azam FC have picked draws in their first leg matches of the 2nd preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
The Uganda side that was unlucky to have over seven players test positive for COVID-19 and missed the match, held Al Masry to a goalless draw in a match played at the St. Marys Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
Despite the Egyptian side dominating the match, the URA FC team played as a team to with stand the pressure. Al Masry’s Amr Ramadan Mousa missed the penalty kick after 13 minutes.
In another match played at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Azam FC held another Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids 0-0.
Algeria’s Kabylie registered a 1-0 away win to FAR Rabat in Morocco, while Enyimba (Nigeria) also stopped Diambars FC in Senegal. Red Arrows of Zambia picked a 1-0 home win against Primeiro de Agosto, and Orapa United (Botswana) defeated Coton Sport (Cameroon) 2-1.
Today another team from the CECAFA region AS Kigali suffered a 2-1 loss to DC Motema Pembe (DR Congo) in a match played in Kigali.
The second leg ties will be played from October 22-24, with the aggregate winners qualifying to the additional second preliminary round.
