Uganda’s team off for COSAFA Women U-17 Championship

Striker Juliet Nalukenge will captain Uganda when they take part in the 2019 COSAFA Women U-17 Championship. Uganda’s team, the only guest side invited for the tournament traveled on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the tournament which runs September 20-29 in Port Louis, Mauritius.

Coach Ayub Khalifa’s will open their campaign against Zambia on September 20th before facing hosts Mauritius two days later. They will face Comoros in their last Group A match on September 24th.

The inaugural women’s tournament organized by the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) will attract eight teams with four in each of the groups. Group B will have Seychelles, Madagascar, South Africa and Botswana.

“It will be a tough tournament but we have got enough time to prepare the girls. We are going to compete and come back with victory. Our target is to be number one,” said Uganda’s coach before the team left Entebbe International Airport.
