Uganda’s Proline FC make winning start in CAF Confederations Cup debut
Striker Ivan Bogere netted a hat-trick to guide Uganda’s Proline FC to a deserved 3-0 win over Malawi’s Masters Security FC in the first leg of the 2019 CAF Confederations Cup.
Proline FC making their debut in CAF competitions took an early lead before Bogere added two more goals after the interval at the StarTimes Stadium in Kampala on Saturday
Amadu Makawa and Mphatso Dzongololo also came close to scoring for the visiting Malawian side, but failed to find the target.
Mujib Kasule, the Club Proprietor and former Uganda Cranes international told Cecafafootball.com that playing at the regional Cecafa Kagame Club Championships helped his players tune up well.
“I thank Cecafa for inviting us for the Kagame Cup last month that my team used to prepare well for this Confederations Cup,” added Kasule.
Bogere who received the match ball for scoring a hat-trick said he was happy to achieve this together with the team. “We need to continue working hard ahead of the return leg in Malawi,” added Bogere.
In the other games CAF Confederation matches played by teams from the Cecafa region, Bandari FC (Kenya) were held to a goalless draw by visiting Ahli Shendi from Sudan. The match between AS Kigali (Rwanda) and KMC FC (Tanzania) also ended goaless.
