Uganda’s Premier League side SC Villa team involved in accident

Team members of Uganda Premier League side, SC Villa were today involved in an accident ahead of a Stanbic Uganda Cup tie.

The team bus that was transporting the SC Villa team overturned at Mijera, about 147kms along the Kampala-Gulu Highway.

The SC Villa team was traveling to Gulu for a round of 64 match of the Stanbic Uganda Cup slated for February 20th against Super Eagles FC at the Pece Stadium.

“We are still waiting for the police report to ascertain what happened and we shall communicate accordingly,” said the SC Villa team.

A member of the SC Villa team told Cecafaonline.com that some of the players sustained minor injuries during the accident.

But latter the team communicated again that all the members were in stable condition. “We thank God that the entire team and coaching staff are all in stable condition after receiving first aid at St Francis clinic, Mijera . Further assessment and management will be done in Kampala,” said the Club on their Twitter handle.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is yet to communicate if SC Villa’s match against Super Eagles has been postponed.

SC Villa are Uganda’s most successful team having won 16 Premier League titles, none Uganda Cups, three regional CECAFA Club Championships and also reached the quarter final stage twice in the African Cup of Champions Clubs (now Champions League). They also reached the quarter final stage once in the CAF Cup Winners Cup (Now Confederations Cup).
