Uganda’s Dixon Okello selected as Security Officer for FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina

Uganda’s Safety and Security officer Dixon Adol Okello will carry the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) flag at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The experienced Okello is among the few security officers selected by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) for the U-20 World Cup slated for May 20th to June 11th, 2023 in Argentina.

CECAFA region will not have a team or any other official work at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Okello, a former Uganda national team athlete was also a security officer in Brazil during the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019, the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland and at the 2019 and 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt and Cameroon among others.

Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia and The Gambia qualified to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The other nations that will tussle it out at the competition include; Argentina (hosts), Uzbekistan, Guatemala, New Zealand, USA, Ecuador, Fiji, Slovakia, Japan, Israel, Colombia, Italy, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Iraq, England, France, The Republic of Korea and Honduras.
