The elective General Assembly of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) will take place at the SilverSprings Hotel in Kampala, Uganda on December 18th.

“I can confirm that the Assembly will take place on Wednesday and Presidents of different Federations around the region have already arrived,” said Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA Secretary General.

The Assembly will also be elective with a new President, two Vice Presidents and Committee members being elected.

“We shall use the newly adopted statues for Zones as recommended by the Confederation of African Football to elect new office bearers,” added Musonye.

The new Statute allows for the President, two Vice Presidents and two Committee members to be elected. According to the new statue only Federation Presidents are eligible to contest to be members of the committee in the Zones including CECAFA.

Presidents of the Uganda FA, Moses Magogo,  Souleiman Hassan Waberi (Djibouti Football Federation) and Abdiqani Said from Somalia who are executive members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will not contest to take up the CECAFA executive positions.

Former Sudan Football Association (SFA)’s President Mutasim Gafaar’s term as CECAFA President ended last month.
