Uganda maintains regional dominance in latest FIFA rankings

Uganda has maintained the top place in the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), according to the latest FIFA rankings.

Although Uganda dropped by two places to 86th in the FIFA rankings released on September 16th, it remained top in the CECAFA region and 18th on the African continent.

Uganda who have played three international matches in the last one month (Ethiopia – Uganda 1-0, Kenya – Uganda 0-0, Uganda – Mali 0-0) have 1271.85 points.

Kenya who improved by two places in the FIFA rankings to 102 with 1205.12 points are placed second in the CECAFA region, while Sudan who are ranked 127th in the world are third in the zone.

Sudan who qualified for the 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) dropped by six places from 121st place.

In fourth place in the CECAFA region is Rwanda who are placed 128th in the FIFA rankings with 1129.37 points, while Tanzania who are ranked 132nd are in fifth place in the region.

Eritrea who do not engage in many international matches are placed 204th in the latest FIFA rankings and bottom in the CECAFA region.

Senegal placed 20th in the latest FIFA rankings and Africa’s best ranked, while Belgium are the world’s best ranked.
