Uganda, Kenya officers attend CAF Safety and Security Train the Trainers workshop

Four officers from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) zone are in Abuja, Nigeria to attend the first ever CAF Safety and Security Train the Trainers Workshop.

The 3-day intensive workshop which ends today at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel has attracted 20 trainers from Nigeria, Liberia, Algeria, South Africa, Eswatini, Uganda, Namibia, Seychelles, Egypt, Cameroon, Senegal, Niger Republic, Ghana and Kenya.

Uganda is represented by Dixon Okello, Humphrey Watenga Mandu and Abdul Lukooya Sekabira and Alan Khakame Chikani. The security officers are expected to return and impart knowledge to other officers in the CECAFA region.

Dr. Christian Emeruwa, the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s Head of Safety and Security said their target is to make sure the 20 trainers are able to support CAF’s intervention programme with 12 selected Member Associations across Africa.

Besides Dr. Emeruwa who has been taking the officers through some lessons, Katharina Steinberg, a Security Manager from FIFA also presented about the Introduction to the list of modules and summary of trainers’ materials’ and ‘Presentation Skills for Trainers’.

At the end of the workshop certificates will be presented to all the participants by officials from FIFA, CAF and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
