The Uganda Hippos are set to face Congo Brazzaville in a semi-final clash on Tuesday at the on-going 13th Edition of the African Games in Ghana.

Coach Morley Byekwaso Ochama’s team wrapped up Group B with a 1-0 win against South Sudan last Friday to finish with nine points.

Uganda started their campaign with a 2-1 victory against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, before stopping Senegal 1-0 in the second match.

“We are happy with the way the team has played the group matches and now is the team to plan well for the knockout stage where we shall face Congo. We shall not underrate any team because we are taking every match like a final,” says Uganda’s coach Ochama.

While Uganda will face Congo Brazzaville who came second in Group A, the second semi-final will see hosts Ghana take on Senegal, with all matches taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

In the last African Games held in Morocco in 2019, Burkina Faso defeated Nigeria in the final, while Senegal picked bronze after seeing off Mali 4-3 in penalties after a goalless draw. Uganda last finished fourth at the 1999 All Africa Games held in South Africa.
