Uganda Hippos book semi final slot in U-20 AFCON qualifiers

_{The Uganda Hippos are the first team to book a place in the semi finals at the on-going U-20 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone in Khartoum, Sudan.}

_{Coach Jackson Mayanja’s Uganda Hippos qualified before playing their final Group B match against Ethiopia who settled for a 2-2 draw against Tanzania on Wednesday.}

_{Uganda kick started their campaign with a 2-0 win against Tanzania on October 29th, 2022 at the Al Hilal Stadium, but the draw between Ethiopia and Tanzania means Uganda have three points and are through to the knock out stage.}

_{“Although we have already qualified we need to prepare well to be able to win the last group match so that we top the group,” added Mayanja.}

_{Ethiopia’s coach Edilu Dereje Neriga told Cecafaonline on Wednesday that they have a good chance to get a good result against Uganda. “My players battled well against Tanzania and now we need to ficus well for the match against Uganda,” added Neriga.}

_{Group A will also be decided on November 5th with all the four teams tussling it out. Burundi who opened their campaign with a 5-0 win against Djibouti and followed with a goalless draw against South Sudan lead the group with 4 points.}

_{The hosts Sudan who settled for a goalless draw against South Sudan in their opening match and stopped Djibouti 1-0 on Tuesday are second in the Group with 4 points, but have netted fewer goals than Burundi.}

_{The best two teams from each group will qualify for the semi finals. The qualifiers will climax on November 11th with the finalists  automatically qualifying for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 to be hosted by Egypt.}
