The Uganda Cranes and Tanzania have picked vital victories in their respective groups of the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s team stopped Rwanda 1-0 in a Group E match played at the St. Marys Stadium Kitende. Few days ago Uganda Cranes beat the Amavubi Stars by the same margin in a game played in Kigali.

Fahad Bayo nodded in the lone goal after 22 minutes after a poor clearance in the Rwanda defence.

Ange Mutsinzi and Kevin Muhire had their well taken shots saved by Uganda’s goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.

Although Uganda moved to 8 points, group leaders Mali picked maximum points way to Kenya. Ibrahima Kone netted the lone goal late in the first half. Mali now lead the with 10 points.

The Taifa Stars of Tanzania also revenged against Benin in a Group J match played in Cotonou. The West African side defeated Taifa Stars in Dar es Salaam a few days ago by the same score.

But this time Saimon HappyGod Msuva netted early in the match to make sure Tanzania get their campaign back on track to go top of the log with a better goal difference than Benin who also have 7 points.

On Monday another CECAFA team Djibouti will face Burkina Faso in a Group A match, while Ethiopia play away to South Africa on Tuesday in a Group G tie.
