The Uganda Cranes team is set to play five international friendly matches this month.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has communicated that the team mainly made up of home based players will face Iceland, Botosani, Moldova, Iraq and Bahrain.

Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic summoned a team yesterday which will start preparations on January 9th before traveling to Turkey the next day.

The Cranes will face the 62nd FIFA ranked Iceland on January 12th, before facing Botosani three days later and Moldova on January 18th. All the three games will be played in Antalya, Turkey.

Sredojevic’s team will later travel to take on Iraq in Baghdad on January 21st, and later face Bahrain in Bahrain City on January 21st.

“These friendly matches come at the right time for our players as we prepare for the many international engagements including the CHAN qualifiers,” said Sredojevic.

The Uganda Cranes team had hoped to travel last week to the United Arab Emirates to play against Gabon and Mauritania national team. But the trip was put-off following travel restrictions in the United Arab Emirates.
