CECAFA teams Uganda and Burundi will know their opponents for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 when the draw is conducted on April 29th.

Originally the draw was to be conducted on April 25th, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) pushed forward the date.

CAF confirmed that the draw will be conducted during a ceremony to be held at the Mohamed VI Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

The twelve teams will be drawn into three groups of four teams, with the hosts Morocco automatically seeded and assigned to Position A1 in the draw. The seeding will be based on their performance in 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations final tournament and 2022 tournament’s qualification.

Uganda and Burundi will use the CECAFA Women’s Championship to take place next month to prepare for the Women’s AFCON 2022.

The other teams that will be drawn include 11-time champions Nigeria, Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia, Botswana, Cameroon and South Africa.
