Tough test as Lady Doves FC face Tanzania’s Simba Queens

It will be a tough test as Group A table leaders Lady Doves FC face Simba Queens FC this afternoon at the on-going Zonal CECAFA qualifiers for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.

After the two teams won their opening matches on Saturday, the stakes ate expected to be higher today at the Kasarani Stadium.

The Ugandan side kick started the campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of FAD FC (Djibouti), while Simba Queens FC (Tanzania) stopped Burundi’s PVP FC 4-1.

Ali Omar Hababuu, the Simba Queens head coach made it clear that they are determined to play much better game than they did in the opening match. “I know Lady Doves is a strong team, but we know how we shall handle them well enough,” added Hababuu.

But the Lady Doves coach Fred Musiime said facing Simba Queens will be a tough test because they have a good experienced team. “This match is very important as we progress to the later stages of the tournament,” added Musiime.

Lady Doves will look to their leading striker Fazila Ikwaput who netted a brace in the opening match, while Simba Queens look to their stars Flavine Mawete Musolo from DR Congo and Zimbabwean import Danai Bhoho.

The first match will see PVP FC come all out hoping to get maximum points against FAD FC. Jumaine Niyonkuru, the PVP FC head coach made it clear that after losing the first match, they are determined to register a win today.

“We must go and win and my players know what to do on the pitch to get the three points,” added Niyonkoru.

The best two teams in each of the groups will qualify for the semi final stage to be played on September 6th, and the final three days later. The winners will qualify to represent the region at the inaugural TotalEnegries CAF Women’s Champions League to be hosted by Egypt.
