Tanzania’s head Coach Ndayiragije happy to get permanent contract
Burundi-born coach Etienne Ndayiragije has said he is excited after the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) gave a him a one-year contract to be in-charge of the national team. Ndayiragije who guided Tanzania to qualify for the 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) was last week confirmed as the head coach on a one-year contract.
“I am happy that after serving on an interim basis I helped the team qualify for CHAN. Now I am glad that as we start preparations for the 2021 Afcon qualifiers I have been confirmed,” added the coach.
Ndayiragije was named interim coach of Tanzania last July, replacing Nigerian Emmanuel Amuneke who stepped down after the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Egypt.
The new coach has made it clear that they need to work hard as the 2021 Afcon start because he would want to lead the team to the next edition of the tournament. Tanzania is pooled in Group J alongside Tunisia, Libya and Equatorial Guinea.
“We need to make sure the team makes a good start in the 2021 Afcon qualifier next month. I believe in my players,” added the coach who is also coach of Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC.
