Tanzania, Uganda draw 1-1 in 13th African Games
CECAFA teams Tanzania and Uganda’s Queen Cranes settled for a 1-1 draw in their opening Group A match in the women’s category at the on-going 13th African Games in Ghana.
Margret Kunihira gave Uganda the lead after 40 minutes with a calm finish at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday evening.
Zaina Nandede was instrumental with the final neat pass that Kunihira made no mistake slotting into the net.
After recess the Tanzanian team under Bakari Shime made some changes and improved in attack. With the clock ticking away Aisha Juma leveled matters for the Tanzanian team after 89 minutes.
In the second match played at the same Stadium Ethiopia lost 1-0 to hosts Ghana. Comfort Owusu netted the lone goal after 59 minutes.
On Tuesday Uganda will return to action against Ethiopia, while Tanzania battle hosts Ghana. The best two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final stage.
