Tanzania to feature in COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship 2021
Tanzania will take part in the COSAFA Beach Soccer 2021 competition slated for 17-21st in Durban, South Africa
The Tanzanian team under coach Boniface Pawasa are placed in Group B alongside Mozambique and Comoros.
Tanzania played at the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations 2021 in Senegal.
“We are delighted to have Beach Soccer back on our calendar and intend making this an annual event in the future,” says Sue Destombes, the General Secretary of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA).
The inaugural beach championship in the COSAFA region was held in Seychelles in 2015 and won by Madagascar.
The next CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations is scheduled for Mozambique in 2022, which will in turn likely serve as the qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Beisdes the Tanzanian team, another member from the CECAFA zone Ali Mwebe (Uganda) will be an instructor at the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship. Two Tanzanian referees Steven Jackson Msilombo and Geoffrey Tumaini will also official at the tournament.
