Tanzania stop Ethiopia 1-0 in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier
Tanzania stopped Ethiopia 1-0 in the first leg of the third round in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
The Tanzanite scored through Christer John Bahera after 64 minutes at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday.
Ethiopia, the regional U-20 Women’s reigning champions tried to fight back strongly, but failed to find the goals.
Bakari Shime, the Tanzanian head coach said that they will not relax after winning the first leg. “We need to keep working hard ahead of the return leg in Ethiopia,” added the coach.
The winner between Tanzania and Ethiopia will face the winner between Uganda and Ghana at the final hurdle of the qualifiers. The Ghana team defeated Uganda 2-1 in Kampala in the first leg played last Saturday.
Two teams from Africa will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2022 to take place in Costa Rica.
