Tanzania stop Angola to reach 2021 COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship final
Tanzania are through to the final of the 2021 COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship.
Coach Boniface Joseph Pawasa’s team stopped Angola 5-2 in one of the semi final matches played today at Durban’s South Beach in South Africa.
Stephano Mapunda netted a brace, while Abdulkadir Tabib, Ibrahim Hassani and Jaruph Juma also got their names on the score sheet for the Tanzania team. End-Cole scored twice for the Angola team.
In the second semi final match Mozambique defeated hosts South Africa 5-3.
“I am very happy with the way my team has responded today against a strong Angola team. Facing Mozambique on Sunday will be another tough match since they beat us in penalties in the group matches after we drew,” said Tanzania’s coach Pawasa.
To reach the final Tanzania kick started the campaign suffering a defeat to Mozambique in penalties after the two teams had tied 4-4. But Pawasa’s team returned to beat Comoros 2-1 in the second game on Thursday.
The COSAFA Beach Soccer Championships 2021 has attracted South Africa, Seychelles, Angola, Mozambique, Comoros and Tanzania who are guests from the CECAFA region.
