Tanzania, Eritrea set to kick-off CECAFA Women’s U-20 Championship

The regional CECAFA Women’s U-20 Championship kicks off today at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru, Uganda.

Giants Tanzania will take to the pitch first against Eritrea in a morning game. Bakari Shime, the coach of the Tanzania team, Tanzanite told Cecafaonline.com that the teams has prepared well and will be out to look for a good start.

“This is a tournament to be played on a League basis and every game counts. We want to to start well with a good result,” said Shime.

The Tanzanian coach guided the Tanzania Women’s Senior team, Twiga Stars to victory in the COSAFA Women’s Championship this month in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The second match which kicks-off at lunch time will see Djibouti facing Ethiopia, while Uganda and Burundi will battle in the last match of the day which promises to be a thriller.

Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson and 3rd Vice President of the Uganda FA said they are prepared to host a successful tournament.
