Sudan suffer defeat at home
Hosts Sudan suffered a 4-2 defeat to Guinea Bissau in a FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier match played on Tuesday night at the Al Hilal Stadium in Khartoum.
It was Sudan’s second straight defeat after they lost 2-0 away to Morocco last week in the start of their Group I campaign.
Silva Djassi Brito Piqueti gave the visitors the lead after 8 minutes when he capitalized on a flat footed uncoordinated defence and gave the goalkeeper no chance.
The visitors continued to dictate the pace of the game before Frederic Mendy made it 2-0 after 11 minutes and Piqueti got his second of the day after 39 minutes.
In the second half the Falcons of Jediane pushed forward and pulled a goal back through Mohamed Abdel Raman. The Guinea Bissau defenders were out numbered giving Raman room to shoot past the goalkeeper.
But the Guinea Bissau team did not give up and netted the fourth goal through Mama Balde after 82 minute. Abdel Raman scored his second for Sudan in added time with a rebound after the Guinea Bissau goalkeeper had parried the ball back in play.
The win takes Guinea Bissau top of Group I with 4 points, while Morocco who are yet to play their second match because of instability in Guinea are second with 3 points. Guinea are in third place with a point, and Sudan bottom without a point.
