Sudan settle for goalless draw in warm-up tie against Zimbabwe
Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane settled for goalless draw in an international friendly match played against Zimbabwe on Sunday in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The two teams used the match to prepare ahead of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021.
Few days ago the Sudan team under new interim coach Burhan Tia lost 3-2 to another team from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region Ethiopia.
“Although we did not score goals, we are satisfied with the way the team played. We gave many other players a chance and we are shaping up well,” said Tia.
Sudan is placed in Group D alongside Guinea Bissau, Nigeria and Egypt. The Sudan team will start the campaign with a match against Guinea-Bissau on January 11, before facing the Super Eagles of Nigeria on January 15th. They will take on Egypt on January 19th in the last group match.
