Sudan draw, Ethiopia fall in Bahir Dar

The national team of Sudan has picked a 2-2 draw in a Group I match against Guinea in the on-going FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifier.

After the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw early in the week, this time they scored more goals but settled for a 2-2 draw in another match played in Morocco.

Jose Martinez Kante and Mohamed Bayo netted the goals for the hosts, while Ahmad Mahmoud and Amir Kamal scored for the Sudan team that is yet to register a win in the qualifiers.

Susan remain bottom of the log with 2 points, while Morocco who were yet to face Guinea Bissau again are top with six points.

In Group G South Africa picked a vital 3-1 win away to Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar Stadium.

Teboho Mokoena gave Bafana Bafana the lead at the stroke of half time. But the hosts came back to level matters after 67 minutes through Getaneh Kebede. The South African team pushed forward and scored two more goals through Mothobi Mvala and Evidence Makgopa.

South Africa remain top of the Group with 7 points, while Ghana who beat Zimbabwe 3-1 are second on 6 points. Ethiopia are third with 3 points, while Zimbabwe are bottom.

Action returns tomorrow with different group matches in the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers. Uganda will host Rwanda, while Kenya also host Mali in Nairobi. The Taifa Stars of Tanzania will play away to Benin.
