Sudan will face Eritrea in a third place place-off at the 2019 Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup at the Fufa Technical Center in Njeru on Saturday. The two sides will be facing off again after they drew 3-3 in the group stages of the regional tournament sponsored by FIFA.

Sudan lost 2-1 to Tanzania at the semi finals stage, while a depleted Eritrean team conceded a late own goal to fall 1-0 to Kenya Rising Stars.

Sudan’s head coach has said they are ready to win the bronze medal.

“After missing out of the final the players are determined to go all out and win the play-off. We have a good strategy that will break the Eritrean team,” added Mousa.

But Eritrea’s coach Haile Efrem Alemseghed also said they want to prove a point. “We drew with Sudan 3-3 in the group stage and know what to do now,” added the coach.

The coach confirmed that four of his players vanished from the Hotel, but added that the players available will be ready to perform.

In the absence of Yosief Mewael Tesfai (six goals) who was among the players who disappeared, Eritrea will look to Ali Suleiman Ibrahim with four goals and skipper Robel Michael Tekle.

Mohamad Abbas Namir who has netted four goals in the tournament will lead Sudan’s goal hunt.
