CECAFA delegation to engage Kenyan Gov’t on possible agreement
The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) will engage the Kenyan government on a possibility of having an agreement to host it’s headquarters.
Members who attended the CECAFA Annual General Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania on February 25th resolved that a strong team led by the CECAFA President, Wallace Karia will travel to Kenya to interact with the government about a long term agreement.
The development comes after failure by CECAFA to access it’s offices and documents locked up by the Kenyan government at Kandanda House, home of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
“We need a strong CECAFA team to go and meet the Kenya government to discuss a long term agreement, but also to see that our offices are re-opened so that we can access documents,” Moses Hassim Magogo, the Uganda FA President said during the Assembly.
Last year FKF offered CECAFA office space at their Kandanda House. However, the offices have been under key and lock since the Kenyan government disbanded FKF last November and put in place a Caretaker Committee.
Although the regional body CECAFA has no home, members at the Assembly agreed that in the long term with help from FIFA and CAF they should try to secure a permanent home.
CECAFA is composed of 12 members who include; Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Zanzibar.
