Yei Joint Stars FC registered their first win at the on-going TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League  2022 – CECAFA Zone qualifiers on Wednesday.

The 10-man South Sudan side stopped Garde Republicaine FC (Djibouti) 6-0 in  Group B match played at the Azam Complex, Chamazi in Tanzania.

Stephen Debora Luka Alworonga scored four goals, while Mariam Lasabu picked a brace to ensure Yei Joint Stars FC picked maximum points.

The Garde Republicaine FC who also lost their opening match by the same score to Simba Queens FC tried to play a passing game, but failed to match the physicality of the South Sudan team who also attacked in numbers and defended well too. Skipper Mazeir Fouad Abdallah, the Garde Republicaine skipper showed flashes of brilliance, but failed to out muscle the Yei Joint Stars defenders.

Yei Joint Stars had Sumaya Malili Taban pick a red card with only four minutes left to full time. She recklessly tackled Mazeir Fouad Abdallah and received marching orders after she had been cautioned earlier.

Abdallah Loi Umar, the Yei Joint Stars FC coach told Cecafaonline that his team played well and still stand a chance of making it to the semi final. “Scoring six goals and keeping a clean sheet is a good performance and we must be motivated for our last group match against Simba Queens,” added Umar.

Simba Queens FC who beat She Corporate FC (Uganda) 2-0 in an earlier match already booked a place in the semi final.

Today Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Fc will take on FOFILA PF (Burundi), while AS Kigali WFC (Rwanda) battle Warriors Queens FC (Zanzibar) in Group A matches at the Azam Complex, Chamazi.
