South Sudan, Uganda face tricky tests as African Games kick-off

CECAFA teams South Sudan and Uganda will kick start their campaign against different opponents in the 13th Edition of the African Games this evening in Accra, Ghana.

In Group B matches Uganda will take to the field first against a tough opponent Nigeria, while South Sudan battle Senegal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Morley Byekwaso Ochama, the Uganda Kobs head coach says his team is well prepared for the encounter. “We do respect Nigeria, but we do not fear them,” added the former International.

The Nigerian coach said besides the well prepared team, they are also counting on the support of the Nigerians living in Ghana.

For South Sudan who make their first appearance at the African Games, their coach Bilal Felix has also made I clear that they are in Ghana to play good football.

“This is our first time in these Games and we want to make names by playing well against some of these big teams,” added the coach.

Tunisia is the other team in Group B, while Group A has hosts Ghana, The Gambia, Benin and Congo Brazzaville.

The women’s action will start on Friday with Nigeria battling Morocco, while Ghana face Ethiopia, and Tanzania battle Uganda on Saturday. All women’s matches will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Group A : Ghana, The Gambia, Benin, Congo Brazzaville

Group B : Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda, Tunisia

Women’s groups

Group A : Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia

Group B : Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Morocco
