South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania for African Games 2023

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania will feature in the football event of the African Games 2023 in Ghana.

CECAFA Zonal U-20 reigning champions Uganda and South Africa will feature in the boys category, while Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda will feature in the women’s category.

The 13th African Games which will feature different disciplines are expected to be held in Ghana between March 8-23, 2024 in three different cities of Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast

CAF confirmed on January 24th, 2024 all the teams that will feature at the Games. « For the men’s category, the CAF Executive Committee resolved that the eight quarter finalists at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023 together with the host Ghana will qualify for the event, ” said the communication.

The African Football body also confirmed that the women’s teams that participated in the fourth qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers will automatically qualify for the Africans Games in Ghana.

The same age category applied during the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON will be adopted during the African Games in Ghana.

Men’s teams : Benin, Congo Brazzaville, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda.  

Women’s teams : Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania,  Uganda.
