South Sudan coach issues warning ahead of last group match against Uganda
The head coach of South Sudan’s U-18 team, James Ezekiel Ismail has warned that his players are more than determined to make it to the knock out stage at the on-going CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship.
After losing their opening match 1-0 to Zanzibar, the South Sudan team battled from a goal down to stop Tanzania 2-1 in a Group B match played in Kakamega on Wednesday.
John Misheto gave Tanzania the lead in the first half, but two second half goals by Christopher Ungom and Ngong Garang were enough to hand James Ezekiel Ismail’s team their first win.
” We know the match against Uganda which is our last group match means a lot to us and we shall prepare well. We have a good team that is playing well since the competition started, ” added the South Sudan coach.
Uganda which also started with a 1-0 defeat to Tanzania returned to the drawing board to stop Zanzibar 2-1 in the second group B match played in Kakamega on Wednesday. Travis Mutyaba, who plays professional football in Georgia netted the opening goal for Uganda, while Moh’d Moh’d Ali leveled matters before the interval. After recess Nasor Mbarouk scored an own goal to hand Uganda maximum points.
Group B will now be decided on Saturday when all the two matches are played since each of the teams has collected three points.
Action returns in Group A on Friday with Kenya facing Somalia in Kakamega, While Sudan take on Rwanda in Kisumu.
