Sixteen teams for African Schools Championship Zonal qualifiers

_{The CECAFA Zone qualifying tournament for the maiden African Schools Football Championship will now take place February 17-19, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.}

_{Auka Gecheo, the Executive Director of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) confirmed that the tournament which had earlier been planned for February 10-13th has now been moved forward by a week.}

_{“We shall have sixteen teams taking part since each of the eight Member Associations will send two teams for the competition,” confirmed Gecheo.}

_{During the qualifier there will be workshops for young reporters, coaches and referees.}

_{The winners in the boys and girls category are expected to win USD 100,000, while the runners-up will take USD75,000 and bronze medalists USD 50, 000.}

_{The maiden African Schools Football Championship is slated to take place April 7-9, 2023.}
